Plaza 25 Expansion and Reconstruction Project
Mr. Michael Yanku was Project Manager, and Mr. William Epp was Project Principal as a Sub-Consultant for this project that required complete civil and transportation design engineering services, including complete concept level, pre-final, and final contract documents for the widening and reconstruction of the Eden's Spur, and specific tasks as they related to the Plaza 25 reconstruction work. Responsibilities included coordination with the ISTHA, with the Prime Consultant addressing the Deerfield Plaza widening and reconstruction work, and with the sub-consultant addressing the implementation of toll collection facilities on the Eden's Spur. Project includes a new toll plaza with 12 toll gates, plaza office, widening of I-94 from 4 lanes to 12 lanes, roadway lighting, drainage, retaining walls, signing and pavement markings. The plaza was designed to be expandable to 14 lanes. Initially, one lane in each direction is an I-Pass dedicated lane. The future expansion will add a second I-Pass dedicated lane. The remaining five lanes in each direction are split between automatic and manual lanes. The scope of work completed by Mr. Epp and Mr. Yanku required complete contract documents for the widening and reconstruction of the Eden's Spur, including developing details for typical sections, roadway plan and profiles, drainage and utility plans, pavement marking and landscaping plans, lighting plans, signage plans, and complete special provisions and estimates of costs. Other tasks included the development of concept level Interchange design studies for Deerfield Road at I-294, concept level maintenance of traffic plans, and the development of concept civil level roadway lighting plans for I-294.
