ISTHA Rubbilization Illinois State Toll Highway Authority
This was a pilot project to test the technique of concrete pavement rubblization and the rehabilitation of four miles of roadway within the research corridor of the East West Toll Way (I 88). Mr. Michael Yanku (Project Engineer and Resident Engineer) and Mr. William Epp (Project Manager) completed this project that required the preparation of a design concept report, barrier warrant analysis, preliminary, pre final, and final design contract documents, complete with supporting design and quantity calculations. Design Phase tasks included field surveys, pavement design, subsurface drainage design, grading, guardrail improvements, box culvert structural repairs, maintenance of traffic, erosion control, landscaping and limited environmental assessments. Construction observation services included verification of existing conditions, records maintenance, complete project documentation, materials inspection, coordination of materials testing, reviewed and addressed the contractor's requests for information, prepared and submitted pay estimates and change orders, provided daily monitoring of maintenance of traffic, and monitoring of contractor schedules.
