Robert W. Vaughn Athletic Center
Rod Malanyaon was the project structural engineer for this approximately 175,000 square foot, multistory community/athletic center. The Robert W. Vaughn Athletic Center, located in Aurora, is constructed of cast-in-place concrete footing, supporting precast concrete bearing and shearwalls.
Second floor framing consists of cast-in-place concrete floor slab on metal deck, supported by steel joists on steel beam framing. Similarly, the roof is constructed of metal deck on steel joists and beams. The Vaughan Athletic Center features a full service 10,000 square foot fitness floor including treadmills, elliptical machines, stair climbers, recumbent and upright bikes, strength equipment and free weights.
Furthermore, the Center includes an Indoor Running Track (1/6 mile three-lane run/walk track), and indoor aquatic Center (Water Park/Leisure Pool, Lap Pool, and Therapy Pool). Also included in the Center is the multifunctional Field House that accommodates Basketball Courts, Volleyball Courts, Indoor Soccer fields, Batting Cages, Golf Cages, as well as Indoor Tennis. Tennis Facilities include, Nine (9) indoor courts a Tennis Lobby and a Tennis Pro Shop
