Aurora, Illinois Schools

LONCO, Inc. Structural Engineer and Project Manager, Rod Malanyaon, was the lead structural design engineer for the Greenman Elementary School, Herget Middle School, Johnson Elementary School, and Aurora East High School Freshman Center, all in Aurora, Illinois. Mr. Malanyaon provided structural design and detailing for the framing plans and details and foundation plans and details for the schools listed. The facilities consisted of 1, 2, or 3 story structures ranging in size from 30,000 to 50,000 square feet. Structural designs consisted of roof framing with metal deck on steel joists and beams, floor framing plan with concrete on metal deck on steel joist and beams, foundation plan on continuous and spread concrete footing, framing details, foundation details, and masonry bearing and shear walls. Responsible for initial design, shop drawing reviews, attendance at construction meetings, construction site observations and other necessary coordination.
