Royal Gorge Bridge and Incline Structural Inspection
LONCO, Inc. has performed a number of significant structural projects at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. Every two years.
LONCO performs a condition inspection of the suspension bridge spanning the Royal Gorge. This bridge was initially constructed in 1929 and had a major rehabilitation in the mid-1980's. Under an agreement between Canon City and the park operator, the bridge must undergo a complete inspection every two years and LONCO was selected to perform these inspections due to the familiarity certain staff have with the bridge. LONCO has been performing these inspections since 1999.
LONCO, Inc. also to performed a structural investigation on the Incline Railway. The Incline Railway follows a narrow gorge, which slopes down, from the Royal Gorge Park to the Arkansas River. The railway is 1500 feet long and slopes down at a 38 degree angle. The vertical drop is almost 900 feet.
