Oil/Gas Pipeline and Electric Transmission Relocation
LONCO, Inc.'s Principals have experience with the design of oil production and electrical generation and transportation/transmission facilities. This experience includes oil-field operations related to the exploration and development of numerous oil and gas fields in Colorado, Kansas and the offshore Gulf of Mexico. This experience includes the appraisal of subsurface oil and gas reserves, coordination of field drilling operations, negotiations with pipeline companies to market the produced hydrocarbons, and the research and publication of subsurface pore-pressure studies for developing safer well drilling procedures. As well, the Principals have been involved in the design of electric transmission system, as well as the design of fossil fuel (coal), and nuclear power generation facilities and associated structures.
LONCO, Inc was part of a Joint Venture Design team responsible for the development of the design specifications and master planning for the utility relocations required for the 45 square mile site of the Denver International Airport. The relocations included double 133 kVA electric transmission lines, as well as local and interstate oil/gas pipelines. The locations of the relocated electric transmission lines required the investigation of the protected clear zone associated with the glide slopes of the airport runways and also needed to be located so as not to interfere with the aircraft communications and navigation systems. The pipeline relocations required extensive coordination with many of the major petroleum and natural gas producers/suppliers in the region including Colorado Interstate Gas, Koch Industries Inc., Phillips Petroleum, Conoco Jet Fuel, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation and Amoco. Pipeline relocations ranged in size from 2” to 24”. There were several producing wells on the site at the time of the study that represented another interesting challenge during the project. Several of these wells were capped while a few of the wells have remained in operation on the Airport site.
