Interchange Reconstruction and Re-Alignment

Project Engineers William Epp (Structural QC/QA), Michael Yanku (Civil, Roadway Geometrics), and Leon Shapiro (Civil, Roadway Geometrics) contributed to this Phase One project. The project required concept studies, traffic studies, horizontal and vertical alignment studies, and multi-level interchange design studies, ramp layout and design, maintenance of traffic concept plans, an ECAD Report, an Accident Report, a Noise Study, and preliminary level signage plans for the improvement of the intersection of FAI Route 80 at FAI Route 74 Interchange Expansion Project. Improvements included the reconstruction and widening of the existing cloverleaf intersection in order to provide high speed directional ramps to accommodate the major thru-movements through this interchange. The Preliminary Location Design Report submittal also included the preparation of Bridge Condition Reports, the removal and replacement of five existing bridges (5), and the construction of six (6) new bridges, preliminary level Type Size & Location plans, Typical Sections and Estimates of Costs. (Total Cost $60,000,000).
