LONCO, Inc. Hosts Restoration Solutions Seminar
In both Colorado and Illinois offices, LONCO, Inc. provides clients, professional associates and in-house staff the opportunity to achieve Professional Development Hours (PDH’s) through a wide variety of seminars. We utilize speakers from our own knowledgeable staff as well as outside topic experts. LONCO, Inc. recently hosted a Rehabilitation, Restoration, and Preservation Solution seminar in Illinois on January 13, 2010, which attracted an audience of local Architects, Park District Directors, Facility Maintenance Directors, Public Works Directors, and our own engineers. The seminar provided extensive information regarding the rehabilitation, restoration, preservation, and strengthening of structure, including parking structures, plaza decks, office and commercial buildings, bridges, stadiums, convention centers, historic buildings and bridges, and industrial and/or manufacturing facilities. The audience was presented with cost effective techniques to increase the life of their existing structure/facilities and the methodology used to restore a structure back to its historical condition.
William H. Epp, P.E., S.E., President of LONCO, Inc., presented the historical renovation and restoration case studies of The Paramount Theater, the Trinidad City Hall, The Schaumburg Silo, and North Avenue Bridge over the Fox River. The subject of rehabilitation of bridges, towers, parking decks and buildings were discussed in length. Joseph P. Illes, P.E., Principal, of LONCO, Inc., presented a case of the currently named Denver Center of Performing Arts Building, which is an adaptive reuse project of the old Denver Tramway Building built in 1911. The investigative engineering approach implemented by LONCO staff uncovered and solved problems that were unknown at the outset of the project, which resulted in saving the facilities owner thousands of dollars.
Jason Caravello, a representative of Structural Preservation Systems, Inc., presented an overview of this international company. Since 1976, Structural Preservation Systems, Inc. has specialized in repair contracting, strengthening, waterproofing and protection projects for private corporations and government agencies. Their structural services reach industries, such as refineries/petroleum, power generation, chemical, food, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, manufacturing, water treatment, marine, cement and quarries, among others.
J E Pritchett, President of Superior Products International, explained their use of ceramic and coating technologies with applications for the specific products, such as Rust Grip and Super Therm. Superior Products have 17 additional products that have unique features for insulation/fire control, corrosion control, top coats, sealants/roofing and special coatings. Their products are used by Exxon, Vodafone, the US Military, Chevron, Halliburton, Sony, the GA, FL and LA Department of Transportation Agencies.
